The Gift of Giving

You may have heard the age-old phrase “it is better to give than to receive”. If you’ve ever given unconditionally, it is likely that you’ve experienced that sense of joy and fulfillment that only giving delivers. What you may not realize, however, is that something incredible happens when you give, something bigger than the act of giving. Each time you give, you strengthen the connection that links humanity together. Through the act of giving, you can witness see the awesome power of 1+1=3 as taught in the PSI Basic Seminar.
It has been scientifically proven that giving is contagious. An act of giving does not only benefit the intended recipient. It creates a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that can extend beyond family and community. This ripple carries with it a sense of cooperation, connectedness, and gratitude.
Can you imagine what the world would like if we cooperated more? There would be no need for war. No scarcity. What about if we had a stronger sense of connectedness? Hunger would be eradicated. Crime would end. And how about if operating from gratitude was the norm? Not only is gratitude integral to happiness, it has been found to improve health and social bonds. In the presence of cooperation, connectedness, and gratitude, the world advances towards greater health, happiness, and prosperity.
Giver (1) + Recipient (1) = Global Health, Happiness, and Prosperity (3)
Whether you volunteer your time at a soup kitchen, donate your clothes to those in need, contribute money to a worthy cause, or simply share a smile with a fellow passenger in the elevator, your act of giving creates something bigger than the sum of its parts. You are creating a world of peace, love, and happiness. And as you give, you’ll be feeling that peace, love, and happiness too!
