A Vision of Optimal Health

“In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.” ~ His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
Whether it’s the new year or your New Year’s resolution may have already warn off… getting to the gym gets bumped to the bottom of your priority list, dietary guidelines are abandoned, and there’s so much to do that you don’t make time to get enough sleep like you promised yourself you would. This is also the time of year that news reports bombard you with tales of illness and sickness, urging you to vaccinate. On top of it all, you may be experiencing stress if your bank account hasn’t fully recovered from holiday expenses. All of these factors indicate that this is the perfect time to focus on maintaining good health.
What is the vision you hold for your body? Do your words and actions support that vision? Whether you want to maintain a healthy weight, manage a disease more effectively, eliminate a dependence, or get an adequate amount of sleep each night so that you feel refreshed and energized, it all begins with vision.
Take a moment to evaluate your vision for your body. Write it down. What does it look like, what does it feel like when you are experiencing perfect health? After you’ve written your vision, create a plan of action. What are small steps you can take to bring that vision to life? Pay attention to your thoughts in terms of how you see your body and what you say about your body, and replace any statements that don’t support your vision with affirmations that do.
If you find yourself veering from the course of optimal health, reread your vision. Keeping your vision of health in the forefront of your mind and making decisions in alignment with that vision will ensure that you achieve your physical goals!
